Ingredients

Scale

Seafood

  • 1 lb fresh or frozen shrimp, cleaned
  • 1 lb whole crab or crab clusters
  • 6 oz smoked turkey bacon, sliced into bite-sized strips

Vegetables & Herbs

  • 1 lb baby potatoes, washed
  • 3 ears corn on the cob, cut into halves or thirds
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Seasonings & Liquids

  • 1 tsp paprika (natural)
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (natural)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (natural)
  • Water, enough to fill the pot

Optional

  • Natural gelling agent (for thickening sauces or dips)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Rinse the shrimp and crab thoroughly. Slice the smoked turkey bacon into bite-sized strips. Wash the baby potatoes and cut the corn on the cob into halves or thirds. Mince the garlic and chop fresh parsley or cilantro.
  2. Cook the Potatoes and Corn: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the minced garlic and a splash of apple cider vinegar (natural) for flavor. Add the baby potatoes first and cook for about 10 minutes. Then add the corn pieces and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until tender.
  3. Add the Seafood and Bacon: Gently add the shrimp, crab, and smoked turkey bacon to the boiling pot. This allows the bacon to impart its smoky flavor while the seafood cooks evenly. Cook for 5-7 minutes or until shrimp turn pink and crab is heated through.
  4. Season and Serve: Drain all ingredients and transfer them to a large serving dish or spread on newspaper-lined tables for a traditional presentation. Sprinkle paprika, chopped herbs, and fresh lemon juice over the top. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Choose fresh seafood for the best flavor and texture.
  • Do not overcook shrimp to avoid rubbery texture; remove as soon as they turn pink.
  • Use a large pot to ensure even cooking and ample space to mix ingredients.
  • Let the boil rest off the heat for a few minutes to absorb remaining flavors before serving.
  • Store leftovers in airtight containers and refrigerate seafood and vegetables separately from smoked turkey bacon to maintain texture.
  • Reheat gently in a covered skillet with a splash of water or lemon juice. Avoid long microwave reheating.
