Ingredients

Scale

Dough Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (about 2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup plant-based milk (warm)
  • 2 tbsp plant-based butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Caramel Sauce Ingredients (natural)

  • 1/2 cup plant-based butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (natural)
  • Pinch of natural gelling agent

Filling and Topping

  • Additional brown sugar for sprinkling
  • Additional ground cinnamon for sprinkling
  • Extra caramel sauce (natural) for brushing and drizzling

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Activate the active dry yeast by dissolving it in warm water mixed with 1 teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit until foamy, about 5-10 minutes. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Pour in the yeast mixture, plant-based milk, apple cider vinegar, and melted plant-based butter. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
  2. Knead and Let Rise: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  3. Make the Caramel Sauce (natural): While the dough rises, melt plant-based butter in a saucepan. Stir in brown sugar, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), vanilla extract (natural), and a pinch of natural gelling agent. Simmer gently until thickened and glossy. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Roll Out and Fill: Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a large rectangle on a floured surface. Brush generous amounts of the caramel sauce (natural) over the dough. Sprinkle additional brown sugar and cinnamon evenly on top.
  5. Shape the Rolls: Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into equal pieces about 1.5 inches thick. Arrange the rolls snugly in a greased baking dish.
  6. Second Rise and Bake: Let the rolls rise again for 30-40 minutes until puffy. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  7. Final Touch: Once baked, brush or drizzle extra caramel sauce (natural) over the warm rolls for that sticky, luscious finish. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Ensure water and plant-based milk are warm but not hot to keep yeast active.
  • Knead the dough thoroughly for a tender, elastic crumb.
  • Allow dough to double in size during both rises for optimal fluffiness.
  • Use a natural gelling agent to thicken and stabilize the caramel sauce.
  • Cut rolls evenly for uniform baking and attractive presentation.
