Description

Easy Bang Bang Chicken Thighs feature tender, juicy skin-on bone-in chicken thighs coated in a creamy, spicy plant-based sauce. Ready in under 30 minutes, this flavorful dish is perfect for weeknight dinners and can be customized for heat and texture preferences.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 6 skin-on, bone-in chicken thighs
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (natural)
  • 12 tbsp oil (for cooking)

Bang Bang Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (plant-based)
  • 3 tbsp spicy chili sauce (natural)
  • 1 tbsp honey (natural)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • Pinch of natural gelling agent

Garnishes

  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and garlic powder (natural) to help the skin crisp up when cooking.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Place chicken thighs skin side down and cook about 6-7 minutes until skin is golden and crispy. Flip and cook for another 6 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and juicy.
  3. Make the Bang Bang Sauce: While chicken cooks, whisk together mayonnaise (plant-based), spicy chili sauce (natural), honey (natural), apple cider vinegar, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), and a pinch of natural gelling agent until creamy and smooth.
  4. Coat the Chicken: Remove cooked chicken from skillet and toss immediately in the prepared sauce to fully coat each piece with the creamy, spicy glaze.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds over the sauced chicken before serving to add freshness and crunch.

Notes

  • Pat chicken skin dry thoroughly for maximum crispiness.
  • Use room temperature sauce ingredients for smooth blending.
  • If sauce is too thick, add a little water or apple cider vinegar to loosen.
  • Cook chicken over medium heat to avoid burning sauce and ensure even cooking.
  • Let chicken rest a few minutes to lock in juices before tossing with sauce.
