Ingredients

Scale

Dough Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (one packet)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • ½ cup plant-based milk
  • ¼ cup softened plant-based butter
  • 1 teaspoon natural gelling agent

Garlic Butter Topping

  • ¼ cup plant-based butter (melted)
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: Combine warm water, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast in a bowl. Let sit for about 5 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy, indicating the yeast is active.
  2. Prepare the dough: In a large mixing bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, salt, and natural gelling agent. Pour in the yeast mixture, plant-based milk, and softened plant-based butter. Stir until a sticky dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. First rise: Place the kneaded dough into a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and leave in a warm place. Allow it to rise until doubled in size, approximately 1 to 1.5 hours.
  4. Shape the rolls: Gently punch down the dough to release air. Divide into equal portions and shape each into smooth balls. Arrange the dough balls in a greased baking dish, leaving a little space between them.
  5. Second rise: Cover the dough balls again and let them rise for 30 to 45 minutes until puffy and nearly doubled in size.
  6. Prepare the garlic butter topping: In a small bowl, mix melted plant-based butter with minced garlic and chopped fresh parsley.
  7. Bake and brush: Bake the rolls at 375°F (190°C) for 18 to 20 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and immediately brush generously with the garlic butter mixture for a glossy and flavorful finish.

Notes

  • Use fresh active dry yeast for best rise and softness.
  • Keep all ingredients at room temperature before mixing for better yeast activation.
  • Allow the dough to rise fully at each stage to achieve perfect fluffiness.
  • Brush garlic butter topping immediately after baking while the rolls are warm for best absorption.
  • Cover dough with a damp towel during rising to prevent drying.
